Photo CDM: 2020.
18 and 20 Bull Street, Gornal Wood.
It appears that re-numbering of these cottages has occured over time.
One of these dwellings, 8a, served as the police house for Gornal Wood.
Early Census list several Police Constables based at this address; 1891, PC James Happey and family. 1901, PC Charles Lewis from Rugeley, Staffs., and family. 1911, PC James Johnson and family. 1921, PC Joseph James Jervis and family had been assigned to Gornal Wood.
How long the house was used by the constabularly after this time is unknown.
Also earlier in 1881, PC Charles Bonser and wife occupied No.9 Bull Street.
This could also have been part of the cottages.
Thanks to their present owners, these cottages have been tastefully restored to
retain their Victorian character.
