A BLACK COUNTRY CUSTOM
A wedding took place on Tuesday morning at Lower Gornal, the surroundings showing a peculiar custom kept up amongst certain classes in the black country. The Happy pair are dealers in sand, and were escorted to the church by a thousand persons, the bridal party being dressed in all colours of the rainbow, and conveyed in a sandcart. After the ceremony the large congregation was addressed by the vicar.
